Kathy Ramirez grew up in Marin County, surrounded by an artistically inclined family. Sharing her family's love for the arts, she studied a variety of art forms while in high school and painting became her favorite. As a hobby. she continued to paint after high school, focusing on landscapes and portraits.

Widowed in 1992, she began to focus once again on her painting. She decided to join the Hayward Arts Council in 1993, where she participating in a variety of events such as their annual Open Studio and Members' Show. She has contributed some of her works to an art auction held by FESCO, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the homeless in our community. Her work has been displayed at "Artworks 2002, a jurored competition as well as at Hayward City Hall for their annual "Open Studio" Kickoff and Reception.
